Jardim do Mar
We lived in this little village called Jardim do Mar for 3 1/2 years. It is a very unique & amazing place. We have many friends and when we go visit our friends especially love to see the kids. Adelei is the best at giving all the "older" villagers hugs. She was born here in Madeira and they saw her as a baby so they all think she is special and she just eats it up. I love the fact that no matter who the "older" person is, what they look like, what they smell like.....she treats them like they were grandparents. They ALL get big hugs. Anyhow, now we live in the city....about 45 minutes away. We go to Jardim quite often still so we get to see everyone and continue the relationships that we already have. People give us grapes, bananas and other goodies often. I very seldom leave empty handed.
Anyhow, these are some of our friends that we got to see today. By the way, we have younger friends also....
This is our neighbors grandma.....she is a sweetheart. We really like her and her family!
This is a dear friend....okay....I don't even know his name but he cried when we moved away from the village. He is always so friendly and nice. He has 14 children of his own....yes 14. Can you believe he told me the other day that 4 was enough. I understand most of what he says but not all of it....we don't talk much but we really like each other. Sometimes we see him in the village square and he is singing songs as he sits on his bench under the tree.
This is Angelo....many of our friends have stayed at his house before. Like many others in the village, he lived in South Africa for quite sometime.
